What To Do When You Appear In Court

Report to the Clerk’s office and check in by properly identifying yourself. When Court begins, the Judge will advise you of your rights and the pleas available to you: Guilty, No Contest, Not Guilty

Guilty, No Contest, or Not Guilty

Guilty
A plea of guilty is a complete admission of your guilt.
No Contest
A plea of no contest is not an admission of guilt, but is an admission of the facts alleged in the Complaint or Ticket and such a plea shall not be used against you in any subsequent civil or criminal proceedings.
If you plead Guilty or No Contest, it is likely you will be sentenced immediately. You will then go to the Clerk’s office to set up any Community Control Sanctions ordered.
Not Guilty
A plea of not guilty is a denial of the allegation contained in the Complaint or Ticket. You will be given a notice of the date and time to return to the Court for a pre-trial or trial.

Court Appointed Attorney

If you are charged with a jailable offense, and do not have money for an attorney, you may request to have an attorney appointed to you. As of September 29th, 2005, Ohio Law required all persons requesting a court-appointed attorney to pay a $25.00 application fee.

License Forfeiture

If there has been a forfeiture placed on your driver’s license, you will need to pay your fines and costs in full with the court that you owe fines and costs. If fines and costs are owed in Crawford County Municipal Court the court will issue a release of forfeiture after all fines and costs are paid in full.

Registration Block

A registration block is placed on your vehicle registration when you fail to appear for an arraignment or fail to pay as agreed on a criminal case. To release a registration block you will need to pay your fines and costs in full with the Crawford County Municipal Court.

Proof of Insurance

Proof of Insurance is a State of Ohio requirement (EXCEPT FOR PARKING TICKETS). If ‘Proof of Insurance Shown’ says NO, you are required to send proof of insurance by fax or in person by the end of the week in which waiver was paid or case was plead to. Insurance must be active on the date and time that you were stopped and for the vehicle you were driving at the time. It is advisable to call the court to verify that proof of insurance was received.

The court accepts payment by cash, money order, certified bank check (payable to Crawford County Municipal Court) at our office or by mail. NO PERSONAL CHECKS ACCEPTED. (Do not send cash through the mail.)

Bucycrus Income Tax Information

YOU ARE REQUIRED BY LAW TO FILE CITY INCOME TAX RETURNS IF:

  • You are a resident of the City of Bucyrus EVEN IF YOU HAD NO INCOME
  • If you no longer live here, you must provide proof to the City Income Tax Department for the year(s) in question.
  • You work within the City of Bucyrus, but do not have taxes taken out of your pay.
  • You own rental properties within the City of Bucyrus.
  • You own a business within the City of Bucyrus.
  • You receive IRS Form 1099

ONCE A SUMMONS HAS BEEN ISSUED, ONLY THE PROSECUTOR OR THE MAGISTRATE CAN DISMISS IT. If you dispute this claim or need to make payment arrangements, you must appear on your scheduled court date. If you do not comply or appear, a bench warrant will be issued.

Effective for 2016 tax year violations of the Bucyrus City Income Tax shall be classified as a 4th degree misdemeanor with a maximum Fine of $250 and 30 days in jail and appearance is mandatory.
